Is Spotify Canvas worth making for every release?
Spotify says Canvas increases streams 5%+. After looking at actual data from 200 independent releases, here's when it's worth your time.

Spotify's own case study claims Canvas-enabled tracks see a 5%+ lift in streams. We looked at 200 indie releases — half with Canvas, half without — to see if that holds up outside of signed artists.
The short answer
For releases under 10,000 monthly listeners, the impact is real but modest — closer to 2–3%. For releases over that threshold (playlist placements, TikTok moments), the impact jumps to 6–8%.
When Canvas is worth it
- Single releases you're putting any ad spend behind
- Tracks you expect to chase playlist pitches for
- Anything with TikTok crossover potential
When to skip
- Deep-album tracks no one's discovering via home feed
- Re-releases or remasters
- Low-stakes drops where time saved > 2–3% lift
Grafiks+ includes a motion-ready preview export on every cover, which cuts Canvas creation to 5 minutes in After Effects. If you're on the Artist plan or above, you can also grab the pre-made Canvas version through our addon for $15.
